For Archon Firearms
What you need to buy
The purchase of firearms and ammunition is governed by the Swiss Weapons Act. A brief overview:
- Ammunition
- Criminal record extract (max. 3 months old), weapons acquisition permit (max. 2 years old) and a copy of an official ID.
- Pistols, revolvers & semi-automatics
- Usually a weapons acquisition permit (WES) and a copy of your ID. The WES must be applied for in advance at the cantonal firearms office.
- Exceptional permit
- Certain firearms – for example with large-capacity magazines or an overall length under 60 cm – require a cantonal exceptional permit.
Special rules apply to foreign nationals. Brief overview without guarantee. The Weapons Act and the information provided by the cantonal authorities are authoritative.
